Albert E. Gallatin
(American 1881-1952)

Synthetic Cubist Composition (April 1945 - April 1949)

Oil on canvas, 30" x 25", signed and dated verso. An important Gallatin work. Gallatin was a leading patron of abstract art in America, as well as an accomplished easel painter. He exhibited extensively with the AAA Group, and was instrumental in helping launch and sustain the careers of many of the younger AAA Group artists. This work has two dates verso, which is typical of Gallatin as the artist reworked about 2/3 of his canvases. This is an excellent example of this rare artist's work.
